The SportScreen

Hockey Equipment, Off-ice Training, Skills
The SportScreen is an Awesome Product to Save Your Garage Obviously, I do a lot of hockey training from home. So far, things have been great. My kids are improving (and so am I), and the equipment I've been working with is holding up great! However, I had one vulnerability in my set-up. I have a wall in the basement with two windows. If I ring the puck off the post just right, it ricochets off and hits the window (it has already happened a few times). When I heard about SportScreen, I immediately thought it could be an excellent solution for my window issue... I was right! Unboxing the SportScreen: When you unbox your SportScreen, I recommend opening the instructions and doing a quick inventory. There are quite a…

Weiss Tech Hockey Reveals its Top 5 Most Popular Posts of All Time I started this blog a little over 4 years ago… which is a long time in internet years! It started as a bit of an experiment for me. I wanted to try and use web technology to help local coaches with their practice plans. I'd been playing around with a "new" drill diagrammer I had just come across, DrillDraw, and thought it would be cool to make video explanations of drills using a "digital whiteboard." I started by posting a few video explanations of my favorite drills, and things just kinda took off from there! At that time, nobody was doing digital video explanations, and it seemed to be a method of delivery that resonated with coaches.…

X-Deviator Hockey Stickhandling Aid

X-Deviator Hockey Stickhandling Aid

Coaches' Corner, Hockey Drills, Hockey Equipment, Individual Skill Drills, Off-ice Training, Skills, Stickhandling, Useful Products
Develop Stickhandling Abilities with the X-Deviator I've mentioned this before, but there are a number of skills that can easily be developed off the ice. I'm a strong believer that players who don't take advantage of off-ice training time are leaving precious skill development on the table. Stickhandling is one of the easiest skills to work on at home. XHockeyProducts has put together a great line of hockey training aids that is both fun and effective, which means players will be more motivated to work on their skills off the ice! The X-Deviator: The X-Deviator is a new take on hockey stickhandling aids. The biggest difference between the X-Deviator and some of the other stickhandling aids out there is that the X-Deviator is adjustable. Each joint on the X-Deviator swivels,…

Biggest Potential to Gain an Advantage: In that post, we talked about some of the on-ice factors that go into being an effective player... these on-ice factors are definitely important, however, where you're really going to gain an advantage is off the ice! Off-ice strength training and conditioning is probably the biggest category that will give you an advantage…

How to Install the Sniper’s Edge Indoors

Hockey Equipment, Off-ice Training, Skills
Here's a Quick Tutorial on Installing the Sniper's Edge Indoors A few weeks ago I published a detailed review on the Sniper's Edge, which is a shooting tarp that can fit in the opening of any standard two-car garage. The product is fantastic, and I had a blast putting that review together. You can check it out here: FULL SNIPER'S EDGE REVIEW. Since then, I've relocated to a bigger house (Weiss Tech HQ), and the new house has a pretty big unfinished basement... perfect for my new hockey training facility! Benefits of the Indoor Installation After getting everything moved in, one of the first things I did was install my Sniper's Edge in the basement. As much as I liked it outdoors, I must admit, the indoor install has been…
