Hmmmmmmmmm… My good friend and fellow hockey coach, Jeremy Weiss, just let me in on his new S3 Formula training program, and I think it’s definitely worth sharing with you.
If you have a chance to watch the following hockey training video, you’ll see how you might gain a HUGE advantage over your opponent! And, in keeping with the CoachChic.com way of doing things,
it’s all about the science of training
!
Actually, a lot of the information you’ll find in the S3 Formula is scattered within our site. However, Jeremy has gathered the best advice you can find on off-ice training all in one place.
So, go ahead… Take a look (the video contains really good stuff — and you’re going to learn some pretty valuable background information about training for hockey, even if you’re not inclined buy)…
Hockey is one of the few sports where players do little to no off-ice training, outside of what’s mandated by their respective teams… This leave a HUGE opportunity to gain an advantage over your opponent by participating in a structured hockey workout program. So… what makes for a good hockey workout program? Make sure your off-ice hockey training considers the following areas, and incorporates the correct exercises to train them properly:
1. Which energy systems are used in hockey?
2. Which muscle groups are used in hockey?
3. What key athletic movements are most important for hockey?
We have put together an off-ice summer training camp that is 100% hockey specific. As far as I know, it’s the first of its kind. It will take place over 20 weeks, starting the first week in April, and will operate just like a regular off-ice training camp, except that all of the communication will take place via the web.
Check out this new Hockey Workout, and email me if you have any questions!
Go to: http://hockeydevelopmentsystems.com/ to get on the “Early Bird” notification list. This will let you be one of the first to know when the program becomes available.
Also – leave your hockey training questions, concerns, comments, and suggestions in the comment section **YES, I’m serious – go ahead and do it now **
Plyometric training is a great way to increase your leg strength and explosiveness, which will contribute to improved hockey speed and skating power. There are many different plyometric exercises and routines out there. This video outlines one of my favorite methods for developing that leg strength and explosive power that all hockey players need. I’ve had a lot of success with this routine, but I’m interested to know what other plyometric exercises you may have seen or used in the past.
Enjoy!
PS: Here is a link where you can purchase your own set of plyometric boxes. These aren’t exactly the same as the ones I have, but they will definitely do the trick. This place lets you mix and match sizes ranging from 6″ up to 42″ – Click Here to check it out.
